The
main goals of Super Pup are to provide an outstanding
service to dog owners and to actively pursue continuing
education amongst its trainers. It is envisaged that
this Code Of Ethics will also provide owners of dogs
with the confidence that Super Pup certified trainers
are knowledgeable, caring and conscientious and will
help them achieve their training goals through the use
of kind and humane training methods.
Trainers are required to agree to this Code Of Ethics in
writing prior to certification being granted:
As
a certified Super Pup trainer I agree to:
-
Provide honest, professional services of the highest
standards.
-
Adhere to the overall goals of the Super Pup
programme.
-
Assess my own knowledge, experience and
qualifications and work within my professional
limits.
-
Continue professional development by participating
in the CPD programme; attending conferences,
workshops and seminars; and pursuing other
educational opportunities.
-
Treat all dogs and owners with respect, taking into
account their physical and psychological well-being
and respecting owner's wishes regarding the training
of their dogs.
-
Respect the privacy of the dog owners and hold in
confidence all information obtained in the course of
professional services, unless otherwise agreed upon
in advance. I will use discretion in revealing
information regarding dogs displaying potentially
dangerous behavior.
-
Incorporate what it means to be a responsible dog
owner into training programs.
-
Be respectful of colleagues and other professionals
and not falsely condemn the character of their
professional acts.
-
Provide puppy owners with an approved nutrition
puppy pack during their training course.
Certification and association with Super Pup will be
terminated with immediate effect in any of these cases:
-
Veterinary diagnosis by a trainer. The relationship
between dog trainers and veterinarians must be
cooperative for the benefit of dogs and their
owners. Any and all suspected medical problems must
be referred to a veterinarian.
-
Cruelty, abuse or neglect to animals or humans.
-
Business fraud, plagiarism or copyright
infringement, slander or libel.
-
Representation of him or herself as an official
spokesperson for Super Pup without prior written
approval.
-
Any action which is found to be inconsistent with
the goals of Super Pup.
-
Non compliance with the Code Of Ethics.
While we do operate an
on-going quality control programme, we obviously cannot attend every
single Super Pup class nationwide. We ask you to be our eyes and ears in
this respect - please report any
violations of our Code of Ethics to
watchdog@superpup.co.za.
Thank you. |
